Invasive Species in Forests and Rangelands of the United States
A Comprehensive Science Synthesis for the United States Forest Sector
Produktform: Buch / Einband - fest (Hardcover)
This open access book is a USDA Forest Service technical report providing a sector-wide scientific assessment of the current state of invasive species science, management, and research in the United States. The Forest Service works with a broad assortment of partners to detect, respond to, and manage invasive species that threaten the Nation’s wildlands, urban forests, and rangelands. A previous Forest Service technical report, A Dynamic Invasive Species Research Vision: Opportunities and Priorities 2009–29 (Dix and Britton 2010), identified science that is increasingly focused on quantifying invasive species biology, impacts, and interactions, along with prioritizing the management of invasive species and altered ecosystems. Leading experts on invasive pests, climate change, social sciences, and forest and rangeland management gathered at a national stakeholder workshop to highlight the science and identify knowledge gaps in a diverse array of topics related to invasive species. Stakeholders from nongovernmental organizations, academic institutions, professional organizations, private corporations, and State and Federal agencies represented public, private, and tribal interests. Input from these stakeholders helped to frame the subject matter content and management options presented in this report, ensuring relevance for decision makers and resource managers.weiterlesen
