Joanna Jones has developed, over the last four decades, her very own visual language which is probably most closely related to the Abstract Expressionism of Lee Krasner, Elaine de Kooning, Helen Frankenthaler, Grace Hartigan or Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Willem de Kooning or Franz Kline. And yet Jones' approach is quite different, also more radical and immediate. And has to do with the differentiation of tried terms used, such as action painting, spontaneous painting, gestural painting, meditative color field painting and the technique of automatism - to a certain extent, and in turn only to a limited degree. The Abstract Expressionist painters wanted their paintings to be created more spontaneously and emotionally than intellectually. This also applies to Jones.
