Kaguya – the daughter of the moon – is the oldest fairy tale in Japan, written down around 900. Princess Kaguya is raised as a tiny foundling by a bamboo collector and grows up with him into a radiant beauty. Five noble suitors compete for her, but all fail because of the superhuman task Kaguya sets for each of them. Even the emperor cannot win her over.
