Strategic competence management is the link between the company's targets and human resource management. It helps those responsible to obtain an overview of the competences within the company as they are currently available and as they shall be required in the future and thus to gain a reliable basis for human resource planning. This competence management plays a particularly central role within small and medium-sized companies (KMU) in order to overcome demographic changes and the long-term human resource development. This publication presents procedures and instruments for the introduction of competence management, which are tailored to small and medium-sized companies and which can be realised with reasonable expenditures.
