Leon Schidlowsky: Ein Außenseiter in drei Kulturen / An outsider in three cultures

Musikstationen eines jüdischen Komponisten in fünf Akten / Musical stages of a Jewish composer in five acts

Produktform: Buch / Einband - flex.(Paperback)

On the occasion of his 90th birthday, this small book attempts to shed light on the work of the composer Leon Schidlowsky. The conductor Hermann Scherchen said of the Chilean-Israeli composers and painter on the occasion of the premiere of Llaqui under his leadership in 1965: “The work has a face. It is passionately hard and agitated. Actually, it belongs entirely in the strong expressionist world. Schidlowsky has come over the listeners like an elemental event”. The Indian conductor Zubin Mehta, after having directed about 5 works by Schidlowsky, describes him in his last visit to Chile as a “wonderful composer”. With his works composed with graphic scores, Schidlowsky achieved great success, especially in Germany and Israel, so much so that on 2 May 1980 the newspaper Die Welt attested to Schidlowsky being an “original master of two arts”.weiterlesen
