The central theme of this dissertation is the working conditions and experiences of female trainees within the automotive trade. Based on interviews with trainees and trainers this empirical study investigates the competences and previous experiences, which motivate girls to commence training to become automotive mechatronic engineers. In a second step, the author explores which experiences the female trainees have in this male-dominated trade.
