Locke and Biblical Hermeneutics
Conscience and Scripture
Produktform: Buch / Einband - fest (Hardcover)
This volume investigates aspects of John Locke’s thought, in particular his exegesis of the Letters of St. Paul and, more generally, the study of his biblical hermeneutics and its influence. It does so taking into account the philosophical, historical and exegetical sources of his late writings, and the influence which he had upon Eighteenth and Nineteenth Century thought. The book studies sections of Locke’s work which have so far not been adequately explained, even though they are essential for understanding and interpreting Locke’s philosophy. The volume brings together leading international scholars from a range of disciplines, including historians of philosophy, historians of ideas, theologians, and Ecclesiastical historians. It fills a gap in Locke scholarship and offers new knowledge both of historical and philological issues as the basis for a new analysis of metaphysical problems, and a new understanding of the philosophy and the biblical hermeneutics in Locke’s thought.weiterlesen
