Die Kunst von LuYang entsteht aus einem einzigartigen Crossover von Neurowissenschaft und buddhistischer Philosophie, Medizintechnologie und Bodyenhancement, Manga-Ästhetik und Sci-Fi-Fantasie. LuYang schuf 2020 den Avatar DOKU, der seine Gesichtszüge trägt und zugleich eine Figur darstellt, die sich von fixen Identitätszuschreibungen löst. Mit seinen technisch ausgefeilten wie ästhetisch überwältigenden 3D-Animationsfilmen, Videoinstallationen und Computerspielen erobert der Medienkünstler aktuell die internationale Kunstszene.
