Maya Schweizer. Stimmen / Voices
Ausst. Kat. Museum Villa Stuck, München
Produktform: Buch / Einband - flex.(Paperback)
Maya Schweizer’s films address questions of history, identity and memory. Urban spaces as intersections between individual and collective actions often provide the starting point for her consideration. Her view of these places and spaces exposes social realities, instilled narratives and superimposed histories. When Schweizer showcases cultural identity, the role of individuals as political actors, or individual memories, it is always about the vicarious experience in the social context.
In her reflections on everyday spaces, Schweizer fluctuates between documentation and dramatization. She assembles situational observations and documentary materials, self-produced and found images, combining them with sample-based, sound and texts to produce a new structure. In doing so, she weaves the various auditory and visual layers into a narrative; in her own range of topics never lapsing into a fixed position regarding the broad range of topics she addresses.
