Committed to the profession’s moral and ethical values, a young generation is searching for new, contemporary symbols and rituals to express grief and pain, consolation and sympathy. Over a period of more than three years, photographer Andreas Teichmann gained access to an industry that has previously remained impenetrable to most people. His photographs show the everyday working life of young morticians beyond clichés and misconceptions. What motivates a young person to become a mortician? And how does their own life change when they are constantly dealing with death?
