Job migration in Central Europe has long been part of the life experience of all societal strata. There were many forms of job migration, having to do particularly with the profession, gender, and age of the persons involved. These social factors as well as the respective regional background played a major role in the positioning of such migrants in the national and international job markets and in their function within the new networks and household structures. In this study the author illustrates the specific experiences of such a workforce on various levels, starting with large cities through mid-sized towns down to villages.
