The use of a monocular telescope (one-eyed handheld telescope) supports a visually impaired person to lead an independent life. It enables persons with low vision to find and recognize objects and information in the long or short distances, helps with orientation and facilitates mobility in public spaces, and supports free-time and hobby tasks. In schools and in vocational training, the monocular telescope is used by the visually impaired person to read blackboard markings and watch experiments and projections. In order to allow an effective handling of a monocular telescope, the person with low vision should be introduced to the use and some individual training is required.
