Music Archaeological Bulletin, 1984-1986

Publications of the ICTM Study Group for Music Archaeology, Special Edition, Vol. 1

Produktform: E-Buch Text Elektronisches Buch in proprietärem

Inspired by a roundtable at the 12th Congress of the International Musicological Society held in Berkeley, California, in 1977, the ICTM Study Group on Music Archaeology was formed in the late 1970s and early 1980s by a small group of innovative musicologists and archaeologists. The study group was formally founded on the occasion of the 26th World Conference of ICTM’s parent organisation, the International Folk Music Council (IFMC), in Seoul, Korea, 1981, by the four founding members Ellen Hickmann, John Blacking, Mantle Hood and Cajsa S. Lund. The self-produced MAB – Music-Archaeological Bulletin / Bulletin d’Archéologie Musicale (1984-1986, 6 vols.) and the Archaeologia Musicalis (1987-1990, 6 vols.), which was published by Moeck Verlag, Celle, are now reprinted as Special Edition vols. 1 and 2 of the Publications of the ICTM Study Group on Music Archaeology. The rare bulletins and journals of the early ICTM Study Group on Music Archaeology reflect the initial prolific phase of the study group, which Cajsa Lund has called its ‘golden era’. They include summaries and abstracts of the first symposia as well as reports and articles shared among study group members, and continue to be of great value to interested researchers. weiterlesen
