This book deals with the family centered music therapy in the neonatology (NICU) and presentsa music therapeutic concept for the accompaniment of families with a premature infantand at least one sibling. The sibling must also bear the burdenson the parents. The stay of a newborn in a neonatal intensive care unit represents a crisisand stressful situation for the entire family.Music therapy in the neonatology offers diverse and effective interventions to promotebonding development between the premature infant, the parents, and the siblings.It helps the parents and the siblings to improve their sensitivity in dealing with the prematureinfant. The music establishes on the intrauterine acoustic experience and helps to enrichthe highly technical environment of the intensive care unit with something familiar andhuman. It supports the premature infant in the adaptation of the extrauterine environmentand promotes the perceptions that contribute to the structural and functional developmentof the child and the thriving of sensory perception.
