Natalia Ginzburg's Global Legacies
Produktform: Buch / Einband - fest (Hardcover)
This book offers new, interdisciplinary, global approaches to Natalia Ginzburg’s entire oeuvre – novels, essays, interviews and film criticism. Drawing on Trauma Theory, Queer Studies, Feminist Theory and Cinema Studies, among other disciplines, the edited volume puts Ginzburg’s works in conversation with those of Elsa Morante, Italo Calvino, Zadie Smith, and Jhumpa Lahiri. The essays, while diverse, are linked by recurring themes of resistance and contestation. The opening section examines Ginzburg as spectator and film critic, and cartographer of urban space. The second section explores Ginzburg’s subjects whose bodies become sites of resistance against patriarchal norms. The final section considers Ginzburg’s narratives of identity formation and expression. In bridging Anglophone and Italian scholarship, the volume will appeal to students and scholars of Comparative and Italian literature, world literature, and women’s writing, as well as general readers of Ginzburg.
