This publication examines the complex phenomenon of language contact in its various facets, both for its subject matter and for the variety of interrelationships that come into play, especially as a consequence of its close links with English. The data are mainly drawn from Peninsular Spanish, but also from overseas areas such as the Canary Islands and the United States. Contact with geographically and culturally neighboring languages such as French and Italian is another focus.
