Online Resilience and Wellbeing in Young People
Representing the Youth Voice
Produktform: Buch / Einband - fest (Hardcover)
This book introduces a youth centric “online resilience tool” developed as part of a digital resilience research project. The Big Lottery funded, Headstart Kernow aimed to “build resilience and mental wellbeing for children and young people in Cornwall”. It explored the role of online technology in children and young people’s lives, with a focus on risk and resilience, and aimed to facilitate constructive and safe communication between young people and adults. Driven by young people’s views on harmful and unharmful online behaviours, and allowing professionals to gain confidence in supporting young people who disclosed concern, the project explores the journey that resulted in the development of the tool, its deployment and impact. Also taking a strategic perspective on the work’s fit in the wider online safeguarding policy sphere, the project strongly argues for a change in emphasis, moving away from safety and prohibition to resilience and empowerment. While we cannot keep children and young people safe online, we can help them become resilient.
