The immunological principles underlying the activity of drugs is increasingly becoming an important component of health sciences education, including professions such as medicine, pharmacy and nursing. In general, however, immunology as a subject matter may be challenging for professional students to master due to its complexity, vocabulary, and limited classes devoted to these concepts during pre-professional training. Current textbooks in immunology are tailored either towards education at the undergraduate level or to Ph.D. students in immunology and medical students, with none to few targeting other health science professions such as pharmacy or nursing. Current textbooks can also be a hindrance due to their focus on subjects extraneous to pharmacy education, such as basic science and disease diagnosis.
