This book explores the state–religion relations under a populist regime to understand the benefits that populist governments can achieve by using state institutions as political tools to further, defend and transmit their agendas. To achieve this, the authors examine the services provided by the Directorate of Religious Affairs of Turkey (its Friday sermons between 2010-2021) to explore the mirroring of the Turkish government’s expanding and changing populist ideology.While also looking at the agency of religious institutes to serve the needs of its patron, but also itself thrive in an autorotation political scenario, the book establishes clear linkages between the sermons and the populist government's narrative that demonstrate the power of religious intuitions in building a socio-political narrative.           weiterlesen
