Public Art 2020-2021

Kunst im öffentlichen Raum Steiermark

Produktform: Buch / Einband - fest (Hardcover)

For many years, the Institute for Art in Public Space Styria has been pointing out the role of art in outdoor spaces as a seismograph for democratic conditions. This was also the case in the years 2020 and 2021, marked by the Corona pandemic, which are recounted in this fifth volume of the Public Art series. More than 20 projects, encompassing art, literature, theater, film and other disciplines, some of which have remained permanently on show in the public spaces of Styria, as well as numerous mediation activities, characterized the Institute's extensive program in these two years. The topics ranged from reflections on the Corona pandemic to art dealing with climate change and a reflection of the tragic events of the November pogroms during World War II in Graz. The project presentations are preceded by a reflection on both years by the director of the institute, Elisabeth Fiedler, as well as different preoccupations with the themes of ephemerality, writing and language, and the concept of monuments by Philipp Blom, Andreas Unterweger, and James Young.weiterlesen
