This is a piece of work in five parts. The first section serves to present Islam, the life of the Prophet Muhammad, the Islamic Fiqh and the Islamic schools of legal thought. This shall serve to clarify how the Islamic Sharia originated and how it has evolved over time. The second section addresses Religion and Law, areas between which the Sharia recognizes no difference. From an Islamic standpoint, the Sharia is Law for all humanity. In the context of this section, it will be necessary to draw upon the sources of Islamic Law. Jihad is the focal point of the third section, discussing its goals, conditions and a multitude of further aspects. In the process of presenting both the origins and the basis of the Jihad, this section shall draw upon the verses of the Koran, the Sunna of the Prophet and the opinions of various Islamic legal scholars. The fourth section discusses Islam and Politics. As may be known, Islam does not recognize a division between State and Religion.
