Actually, the photographs featured in this book are there almost by chance, united solely by the fact that they are from the inventories held by the Fotohof archiv. Likewise, the choice of motifs was not dictated by an effort to come up with a valid image of the city; its aim, rather, is to showcase a typical cross-section from each particular artist’s oeuvre.
