During the course we had the chance to get to know some example researches and studies to get inspired by. We were part of the group that presented the study done by Haznedar on a Turkish boy acquiring English in 1997. This study gave us the idea for our topic. While Haznedar showed that Erdem, the Turkish boy, approaches English entirely from his mother tongue, we want to find out whether Turkish learners of a third language still acquire that with transfer from their first language or if the influence of the second language “in between” is stronger, especially if they know that second language almost as well (maybe better) than their original L1.
