SFB 880 – Fundamentals of high-lift for future commercial aircraft

Produktform: Buch / Einband - flex.(Paperback)

This volume of the SFB 880 biennial report is the second issue of comprehensive scientific information on the Coordinated Research Centre SFB 880, which began its work on January 2011. The objective of this book is to provide timely dissemination of scientific results of all SFB 880 research projects. It is structured as a compilation of technical reports prepared by the participating research scientists. The research subjects addressed in the book are interdisciplinary and cover fundamentals in scientific computing, aerodynamics, aeroacoustics, material sciences, new aircraft structures, and flight mechanics. Accordingly, the SFB 880 is constituted of three research areas: – Research Area A - Fundamentals of Aeroacoustics – Research Area B - Efficient High Lift – Research Area C - Flight Dynamics The long-term objectives of SFB 880 are to provide new knowledge in aircraft design methodologies and in technologies needed to bring about drastic reductions of airport community noise, to provide active high lift for enhanced take-off and landing operations, and to study the dynamic behaviors of such advanced aircraft during typical low-speed flight maneuvers. Coordination amongst the individual research areas within the SFB 880 projects is assisted by technology evaluation in project Z. Project Z performs overall aircraft design of the SFB 880 reference aircraft. The reference aircraft represents a new class of commercial transport aircraft that allows operations from runways as short as 800m. The aircraft mission is to provide transportation for 100 passengers over a distance of 2000 km. By using fully iterated aircraft designs it is possible to assess technology impact on aircraft performance and on direct operation cost, and hence to monitor the research progress against the program objectives. After 4 years of research we present significant advances of high-lift technologies that result in noteworthy performance improvement of the SFB 880 Reference Aircraft. We trust that the readers will enjoy having comprehensive information of our research at hand. weiterlesen
