In everyday circumstances, speaker recognition is not a problem as long as the speaker or conversation partner is known and familiar. If speaker recognition becomes forensically significant, the question arises as to the certainty with which an identification or verification can be accepted in a court. Examples can be given for the identification of speakers who are involved in or suspected of criminal acts such as blackmail, robbery, threats, slander, murder, and many other crimes. How can the language skills of the suspect be determined? Can a speaker analysis identify the speaker of the suspect beyond any doubt and with certainty in court? Can forensic phonetics be used successfully? Can a speaker comparison between different language systems be successful? The present research volume is intended to present some of the most important analytical methods in practice and to show possible solutions.
