The present volume is the outcome of various research activities conducted over several years at the Institute for the Study of Islamic Thought (ISITA, based at Northwestern University Evanston, IL) and the Institut Français d’Archéologie Orientale (IFAO) in Cairo. Supported with a generous grant from the Ford Foundation, Rüdiger Seesemann organised various events and workshops under the umbrella of ISITA, focusing on Sufi texts and contexts as well as the literary production in the Tijāniyya Sufi order.
