The Embodied Philosopher
Living in Pursuit of Boundary Questions
Produktform: Buch / Einband - fest (Hardcover)
This book is the first original and bold formulation of a meta-philosophical scheme rooted in the embodied cognition paradigm. It discusses what it means for a human being thought of as an embodied subject to pursue philosophy. In this context, in contrast to the existing literature, philosophical competence must not be conflated with competence in philosophy. The former is not a field of propositional knowledge, but rather a skill or attitude. The book refers to this peculiar attitude as the recognition of one's epistemic position. Moreover, the book proposes that aside from beliefs and experiences (which are usually distinguished in the intuition literature), there exists a more fundamental intuitive capacity to problematize a given domain, to question a given issue. This is referred to as erotetic intuition, a major factor behind the embodied subject's capacity for reflection and self understanding.
