Excavations have been carried out in the fortress of Qasr Ibrim since 1963 under the auspices of the Egypt Exploration Society. On behalf of the Egypt Exploration Society and Dr. Pamela J. Rose, field director of the Qasr Ibrim excavation, Dr. Jochen Hallof, Egyptologist and Meroitist at the University of Würzburg/Germany, is preparing the publication of more than 700 Meroitic texts from the excavation at this site.

This volumeSRaT 9.1: Meroitic Inscriptions on OstrakaThe first volume contains the publication of 189 Meroitic texts, among them a very important ostrakon (REM 2112) with the Meroitic figures from 1 to 900000.
