Environmental Labour Studies (ELS) connects research on production, working conditions, and industrial relations with research on environmental degradation, environmental policies and sustainability transitions in the context of a changing climate.Research into the relationship of labour and nature draws in academics from across the social and natural sciences, and is truly international engaging researchers in the Global North and South  but it is still a relatively new area of research and there is a need for a book that brings together the many areas of debate into one comprehensive volume.The Handbook of Environmental Labour Studies will systematise and coordinate the debates around the relations within and between organisations that hinder or promote environmental strategies and forms of resistance. This includes relations between local, national, and international trade unions as well as relations between workers’ organisations and environmental organisations, NGOs, feminist movements, community movements for example.
