The Priority of Propositions. A Pragmatist Philosophy of Logic
Produktform: E-Buch Text Elektronisches Buch in proprietärem
This monograph is a defense of the Fregean project in logic. Frege's logic. Logic is a transversal domain that applies to the foundations of arithmetic and any other discipline that deals with judgeable contents. Frege rejected the formalist shift produced by the work of Peano, Boole and Schroeder, and continued by Hilbert and Tarski, to install an approach in which propositional contents were logic's only concern. The author defends logic as immanent to our conceptual system and the bearers of logical properties as judgeable contents (propositions) instead of uninterpreted sentences in formal systems. This approach will allow a definition of logical constants, logical consequence, and truth that correctly identifies their syntactic and semantic properties and connect them with speakers' practices in science and everyday communication.weiterlesen
