In an attempt to discern the purpose of Mark´s gospel, Adam Winn seeks to reconstruct the historical situation facing the Markan evangelist and his community in Rome, post 70 CE Central to this reconstruction is the propaganda of the new Roman Emperor Vespasian - in particular, Vespasian´s propagandistic claim that he was the true fulfillment of Jewish messianic prophecies.
