Theory and Practice of Sociosensitive and Socioactive Systems
Produktform: Buch / Einband - flex.(Paperback)
The starting point of the book is the assumption that the importance of interactive, adaptive systems continues to increase in more and more areas of life. The use of digital voice assistants, social robots or virtual agents, for example, affects the concrete, professional and private everyday life of many people. For interpersonal interaction, more or less complex rules and techniques of behaviour, interaction and (social) appropriateness have developed in every culture, such as when apologies, greetings, congratulations, reprimands or other social practices and rituals are appropriate and how these are to be carried out. Such cultural techniques of behaviour and the customs, norms of behaviour or conventions that regulate them are handed down - often unwritten - and acquired by individuals in the course of their socialisation. Behaviour can then be judged as socially more or less appropriate, depending on the person, role, situation, context, culture, time, etc. Especially when our everyday life will be increasingly permeated with intelligent assistance technology in the future (from social robots to the voice assistant of the smartphone), questions arise regarding a connection between such cultural techniques of behaviour and 'intelligent' technical systems: Can and should these be equipped with skills for socially appropriate interaction? - This is the guiding research interest of the poliTE research project.
