The Spanish scholar Michael Servet was burnt at the stake on October 27, 1553 by Protestant reformers. His misdeed: heresy. Witness: John Calvin. Judge: the Protestant council of the city of Geneva. Today, Servet´s misdeed seems slight: he rejected the idea of the Trinity because he said it prevented peace between Christianity, Judaism and Islam.
