Träume Die in München und Berlin lebende, 1977 im rumänischen Bukarest geborene Olaf Metzel-Schülerin Andrea Faciu richtet mit Videos und Sound raumfüllende Installationen ein. Dabei thematisiert sie die Sprache selbst, die sie spielerisch, aber auch poetisch und suggestiv einsetzt. Nach dem Preis der Villa Romana 2007 ist sie 2009 auf der 53. Biennale von Venedig mit einer Filmarbeit im rumänischen Pavillon hervorgetreten. Zur Doppelausstellung 'Träume und Komplizen' im Kunstverein Braunschweig und im Raum Junge Kunst Wolfsburg publiziert sie nun ihren ersten monografischen Katalog. Wie es der Titel andeutet, befassen sich beide ortsspezifischen Installationen mit traumnahen Zuständen und wollen so Mechanismen der Erinnerung nachstellen. Einesteils in einem lichtdurchfluteten Raum, anderenteils in einer Art dämmerlichtigem Kokon installiert, führen beide Ton- oder Filminstallationen die Besucher in jene Zwischenwelt von Traum oder Wachzustand, wo die Unterscheidung von Realität und Erinnerung schwerfällt. Eine besondere Funktion kommt dabei etwa in Braunschweig großen Filzbahnen zu, die einerseits den Raum abdunkeln sollen, andererseits aber die filmische Darstellung minimalistischer Soundkaskaden und -explosionen wie in eine Filzskulptur wickeln; und natürlich denkt man unweigerlich an Robert Morris, an Joseph Beuys. Accomplices The Olaf Metzel pupil, Andrea Faciu who was born in 1977 in Bucharest and now lives in Munich and Berlin, creates large installations that fill gallery spaces with video and sound. In so doing, she focuses on the theme of language itself, which she deploys playfully and poetically. After receiving the 2007 Villa Romana Prize, she appeared at the 53rd Venice Biennale with a film for the Rumanian Pavilion. She will publish her first monographic catalogue on the dual exhibition 'Dreams and Accomplices' at the Kunstverein Braunschweig and the Raum Junge Kunst Wolfsburg. As the title indicates, both site-specific installations deal with dreamlike states and intend to recreate thus the mechanisms of memory and remembering. Partly installed in a space flooded with light and partly in a kind of dusky cocoon, both film and sound installations lead the visitor into that liminal world between dreaming and waking where it is difficult to differentiate between reality and memories. In Braunschweig, large lengths of felt take on a special function, on the one hand to darken the room, but on the other, to wrap the filmic presentation of minimalist sound cascades and explosions in a felt sculpture; and of course one inevitably thinks of Robert Morris, of Joseph Beuys.weiterlesen
