Turkish Music Therapy - Textbook for a Holistic Medical Approach
Vol. 3 Practising Integrative Ibn Sina Medicine: Diagnosis, Remedies and Music Therapy, Improvisations by Dr Rahmi Oruç Güvenç
Produktform: Buch / Einband - flex.(Paperback)
This work analyses Ibn Sina Medicine as medical basic of Traditional Turkish Makam Therapy for the first time. It proves that Turkish Makam Therapy is founded on a coherent and independent medical system, such as Traditional Chinese Medicine, with its own philosophy, theory and practice, based on inherent rules that unfold its full clinical potential. In contrary to Western music therapy using behavioural or pedagogical elements, Turkish Makam Therapy is based on sound patterns inducing processes of mental and bodily adjustment. Carrier of these sound patterns are the makams. According to the “doctrine of ethos” makams are assigned to special emotions. Like remedies, they influence the state of a patient in a specific way: different makams cure different diseases. Ibn Sina introduced general diagnostic tools to detect patterns of disharmony caused by mental and bodily disorder. Anamnesis and examination according to Ibn Sina are crucial to find the correct remedy or the correct makam that fits to the patient’s state. This book works out the general principles as implemented in Ibn Sina, Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine. It provides a translation of Ibn Sina’s language of diagnosis into a modern terminology illustrating its modern holistic approach. The book presents information about history, musical and medical theory, and about nowaday’s practise of Turkish Makam Therapy. Today, Ibn Sina Medicine is used as complementary method in different disciplines. Turkish Makam Therapy has proved effective in psychological and physical disorders. In prophylaxis, it prevents stress and life style diseases. This work intends to promote the integration of Turkish Makam Therapy into clinical routine.weiterlesen
