Classification is a method of indexing objects in prehistoric archaeology. Its methodology as well as the chronological interpretation of its output uses a specific professional language including terms of natural sciences, history of art and everyday language. Based on the methodological writings of Jens Lüning in which he created a specific workflow - the so-called taxonomisches Schema - the present text focuses on the shifting in the meaning of terms such as type, culture, style, genesis and taxonomy. The text compares the definition these terms have in the sciences from which they originate with the content they receive in the works of Jens Lüning. It can be seen that defined terms transform into metaphors that might consolidate as terms in a new scientific context or disappear as failed metaphors from the professional language.weiterlesen
