This book focuses on the background, migration and settlement of new migrants in China, the status of and changes in their social networks, the role of urban society, the social security situation and future planning, etc. Analyzing the above-mentioned aspects of new urban migrants and based on semi-structured interviews, this book argues that: with their strong educational background, intellectual migrants are characterized by their willingness to engage in urbanization and use of clear entry strategies; given the current nation-wide policies and market economy, it is difficult for labor migrants to receive citizen welfare, making them prone to serious isolation in cities; compared with labor migrants, operational migrants have stronger settlement and family-oriented tendencies.weiterlesen
