Interations between mobility and spatial development in the context of social change The development of traffic in Germany in recent decades has been characterised above all by an increase in the distances travelled and an increase in car, truck and air traffic. For at least 30 years, the associated negative consequences have prompted the development of new planning concepts for traffic avoidance, modal shift and more compatible traffic management. Significant successes can be seen only with regard to more compatible traffic management. Selective successes are seen with regard to modal shift but with a simultaneous increase in the distances covered, which is fed by numerous, socially desirable developments. The contributions of the research report deal with the manifold interactions of mobility and spatial development against the background of social and technical changes. The topic is addressed both theoretically and conceptually, as well as by means of concrete examples, in order to be able to derive conclusions for policy, planning practice and research.weiterlesen
