The concerns of womens studies in Africa are close to African realities and have tended to centre around issues arising from women´s situation in a condition of „underdevelopment“ which characterizes so many countries on the African continent. Gender irregularities, the constraints of the economic crisis and structural adjustment on women are some examples. The position and conditions of women in agriculture, investigating illiteracy, education, health and nutrition, water and sanitation management by women, women in politics, gender issues in production and reproduction are part of a long list of themes that researchers want to understand, so that solutions to problems can be sought.weiterlesen
