Yearbook on the Science of Bible Translation

Special edition of the Coronavirus Year 2020

Produktform: Buch / Einband - flex.(Paperback)

This Yearbook represents a compilation of articles around the science of Bible translation. Due to the Coronavirus situation we were not able to meet for the 16th Bible Translation Forum at the Diakonie in Nuremberg-Puschendorf. However, research on Bible translation is continuing, so we decided to ask for articles. Seven authors responded, with nine articles, a small but extensive compilation. The focus of this yearbook is on theological, linguistic and translational, as well as missiological questions. We will learn about The revision of the Zuercher Bible (Daniel Keil) and the regularities of revision Bibles. The genre of children‘s Bibles brings us to A critical summary of the German Uebersetzung fuer Kinder [Engl.: Translation for Children] (Hannes Rempel). The Revision of the Saami Bible (Hans Olav Mørck and its long process. A study about the book of Daniel is on Who is the subject of Daniel 9:27? (Paul Lawrence). A translational study follows on The particle ὅτι (hoti) in John 10:26: A New Translation Proposal (Glyssie Mills Berberian). Also a new exegetical study on πρὸς (pros) in John 1:1–2: A New Translation Proposal (Margaret B. Berberian and Glyssie Mills Berberian). Another theological question occurs in the article The Interpretation of προσευχῇ προσηύξατο in Jam 5:17 (Gerhard Tauberschmidt). We will look at the Hebrew Bible in the contribution Moses calls the word of God a book (Gert Steyn). A translational perspective on the German Neues-Leben-Uebersetzung [New Living Translation] (Tianji Ma) leads us into translation theory. The missiological contributions are about Bible translation and Multilingual Education and Bible translation and Ethnoarts (Eberhard Werner).weiterlesen
