This book, a commentary to the TAVO-map B IV 8 „Eastern Mediterranean and Mesopotamia around 700 B. C.“, deals with the solution of the question of the identity and identification of the Muskeans and Phrygians, both people testified in Early Iron Age Anatolia (ca 1200–700 B.C.), and the formation of a Phrygian political unit and therefore with the Early Iron Age history of Anatolia based on written, topographic and archaeological sources.

The present work is the last contribution to the edition „Répertoire Géographique des Textes Cunéiformes“ (RGTC). Thirteen volumes have been already published in this series and they became - along with the corresponding TAVO-historical maps - an important research tool in the field of the historical geography of the Ancient Near East. This volume presents the place names from the Neo-Assyrian period in two parts. The first volume (RGTC 7/1) comprises the toponyms from the Levant. The second volume (RGTC 7/2), now in preparation, includes the place names from the remaining regions, namely the northern, southern and eastern regions, as well as from Egypt and the Assyrian heartland. Although the arrangement of earlier volumes was followed, the critical commentary of the secondary literature demands a more extensive treatment in this volume.

This German-Arabic glossary contains the vocabulary and the agricultural terminology of the Egyptain peasants as collected during the field work for the Egyptian Dialect Atlas, as well as an Arabic-German appendix with 3500 additional entries from Dakhla, Middle Egypt and South Sinai. These are already included in the German-Arabic part. A second appendix with 262 drawings illustrates objects of the material culture.
