L'auteur de ce livre a publié dans la même collection en 2011 un ouvrage théorique sur la cohésion textuelle. Il a maintenant voulu tester sa conception à l'aide d'un corpus de textes historiographiques du Moyen Âge jusqu'à nos jours. Il a voulu savoir en particulier comment des types de textes tels que les chroniques, les mémoires ou les biographies ont pu se créer et se développer. Comme ce livre est aussi une histoire de l'historiographie francaise, il s'adresse non seulement aux linguistes, mais aussi aux historiens et même aux littéraires, l'historiographie étant un genre paralittéraire.

The book is an edited volume of articles by eminent scholars in the field of specialist knowledge transmission through genre variation focussing particularly on the issues of standardization and hybridity. It offers some of the important findings of a National Research Project that has involved researchers from several Italian and foreign universities, in particular those from the University of Palermo and the University of Salento. The main focus of the project was to analyse discursive popularization in the contexts and domains of natural sciences, law and commerce, viewed in a diachronic perspective.
