Die Zahl der Menschen, die nach Deutschland migrieren, ist in den vergangenen Jahren deutlich gestiegen, wodurch das Bildungssystem vor große Herausforderungen gestellt wird. Entscheidend ist dabei, den Erwerb bildungssprachlicher Kenntnisse der deutschen Sprache rasch voranzubringen. Auf den hohen Bedarf an entsprechend qualifizierten Lehrkräften hin wurde in Nordrhein-Westfalen daher seit 2016 die Weiterbildungsinitiative Deutsch als Zweitsprache an elf Universitäten eingerichtet. Dieser Band beleuchtet sowohl wissenschaftliche Perspektiven als auch didaktisch-methodische Ansätze dieser Weiterbildungen und ermöglicht dadurch den Transfer didaktischer Überlegungen und Materialien in die Praxis.

Der Band versammelt 24 Beiträge der Fachtagung (17.-19.9.2012 in Donezk, Ukraine). Die Autoren präsentieren und diskutieren ausgewählte Probleme der Semantik und Pragmatik in verschiedenen Bereichen der germanistischen und kontrastiven Sprachwissenschaft.

Die Lehr- und Lernmaterialien „Sprache durch Kunst“ richten sich an Schulen mit einer sprachlich und kulturell heterogenen Schülerschaft. Durch die Begegnung mit Kunstwerken im Museum und eine sprachdidaktische Vor- und/oder Nachbereitung in der Schule werden neue motivierende Sprachlernprozesse initiiert. Das Konzept wurde in einem Kooperationsprojekt zwischen dem Museum Folkwang Essen und dem Institut Deutsch als Zweit- und Fremdsprache der Universität Duisburg-Essen entwickelt. Die Materialien lassen sich auf unterschiedliche Zielgruppen und Lehr-Lernkontexte im In- und Ausland übertragen.
