It is necessary for every discipline to take Stock of its own current state every 20-30 years. Such review helps determine the discipline’s path and tasks for the coming decades, and it also facilitates reflection upon the changes and challenges of the scientific and non-scientific world around it. For this purpose, the Ethnography Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences organized a Series of Conferences between 2018 and 2020 on the current situation and future of ethnography, the proceedings of which are included in this volume. Following the introductory section, the first larger unit contains studies on the usefulness of ethnography and the application of its findings. The second part contains Conference materials that address the relationship between ethnography and related sciences, while in the third, Titled Transfer of Knowledge in Ethnography, we collected studies that discuss the situation and tasks of education and public collections. It is our hope that the volume will please a wide range of readers – inside and outside the discipline – by providing the institutions and researchers of this discipline with reference points for further investigations, and by providing members of the public with authentic information about current and future research carried out with the purpose of exploring and preserving cultural heritage.weiterlesen
