Foreword Writing a foreword for a memorial volume seems to be much harder than writing one for a Festschrift. No Festschrift had been dedicated to Peter Grzybek during his lifetime, since he had only passed his 60th year of life. Moreover, Peter wasn’t a friend of more or less reflected academic tradition and he viewed the fashion for Festschriften with a certain degree of scepticism. However, we believe: honour where honour is due and memory where memory is due. We therefore decided to publish a memorial volume for Peter. The idea for this was born quite quickly after his passing away and we decided to ask his close academic colleagues and friends to honour Peter in this way. Many of the published articles are very close to Peter’s own interests, whereas while some of them are about quantitative text analysis and quantitative linguistics generally. Both areas were without any doubt the most focussed research areas in the last decades of his life. Karl-Heinz Best apologized for not contributing to this Gedenkschrift due to health reasons, but he expressed his deepest sympathy for Peter and his close relation to his works in quantitative linguistics. The publication of this memorial volume was financially supported by the Faculty of Philological and Cultural Studies of the University of Vienna, for which we would like to express our gratitude. We also have to acknowledge the professional and timely submission and resubmission of the articles and proofs by the authors. ABSTRACT The monograph deals with the topic of the diagnostics of technological drives. It focuses on the dependence of diagnostic parameters on technical state of technological drives, which is of crucial significance for industrial plants. The main aim is to contribute to knowledge within the topic of diagnostics of mechatronic systems by the analysis of the elements reliability characteristics; using methods, models, and algorithms for diagnostics and by studying examples of model diagnostic systems using AI methods based on neural networks and fuzzy inference systems. The diagnostic models of automated technological systems drives have been also developed.

Abstract The monograph points out a current state of knowledge in the sphere of production technology of castings by die casting and in chronological or-der it describes die casting technology of metals as well as the die casting machines utilized within the frame of the technology. The cornerstone of the monograph is devoted to description of die casting moulds. The au-thors focused on structure of die casting mouldswith the stress laid on the projection of castings and gating systems. Fundamentals of hydrodynam-ics of molten metal flow in the mould cavity along with basic and structur-al parts of the moulds as well as production process and launching the moulds into production are analysed in detail. Emphasize is also put on clarification of regularities and aspects of suitability and of manufactura-bility of die casting component parts and of projection of gating systems. Based on the results of the selected experiments realized by the team of authors, the analysis of influence of structural modifications of the respec-tive parts of the gating system on quality of castings was carried out with regards to elimination of gas entrapment in the molten metal volume which, as the monograph presents, directly affects the quality of casting properties. The results of the experiments realized under operating condi-tions as well as of those performed by means of simulation software sup-port and move towards recommendations for industrial practice from the point of view of achieving the maximum level of effectiveness and quality of production of aluminium castings through die casting technology. The monograph is intended mainly for students, postgraduates and pedagogues at technical universities as well as to for broad scientific and expert public and technologists and foundry shop workers.

Worm Gears: General Information, Calcula-tions, Dynamics and Reliability

ABSTRACT The monograph deals with the current topic of circular economics and its implementation in business processes and strategies. It discusses this topic both on a general level and on the basis of several examples in the conditions of the Slovak Republic. The aim of the monograph is to clarify the principles of circular economics and relevant contexts. These related aspects are described as challenges for business and marketing in the form of opportunities or potential risks that may be associated with the transition of companies from a linear economy to a circular economy. The monograph contains 15 pictures and 8 tables. The knowledge base in writing the monograph consisted mainly of foreign literary sources. PREFACE We have prepared the presented scientific monograph in order to acquaint the general scientific and professional public with some research results with the results of numerical and experimental research of the properties of machine tool construction in terms of their impact on their working accuracy. Identifying the influences of the machining process itself, as well as the influences of the design properties of the machine tool, will make it possible to predict and subsequently optimize its design in terms of its achieved working accuracy. The practical importance of virtual machining and experimental research in this area is primarily in reducing financial costs and speeding up machine design without the need to produce a physical prototype. Using simulation models, it is possible to repeatedly analyze the weak points of the machine design, determine the effects of individual components of the machine on its properties and optimize them, but also take into account ergonomic and other requirements. The publication draws on the results of the authors' own research activities within the grant project KEGA no. 025TUKE-4/2019: Integrated training laboratory of virtual prototyping and experimental verification of machine tools accuracy and from previous grant research projects, partial results of which have been published in works listed in the bibliography. Developed and verified methodologies of virtual machining, mathematical simulations and experiments are developed by the scientific field of Production Machines and Equipment and can be used in industrial practice in existing, respectively potential machine tool manufacturers. ABSTRACT The monograph deals with current counseling with an emphasis on its professional side, which is a key prerequisite for the performance of counseling. Consulting has now become a highly sophisticated profession that requires highly qualified consultants working in consulting firms. Consulting companies are knowledge-intensive companies that are a source of innovation and change. These initiatives arise in the consulting process, in which the consultant enters together with the client. Consulting has taken on the character of industry and consultants are promising professionals who, due to the turbulent development and dynamics of management and business, undoubtedly have a great future ahead of them. Our goal in this monograph is to present consulting as a profession of the future, which has the perspective of growth and development. We focused on management consulting and its core - marketing consulting, which intersect throughout the company and business. For this purpose, we used a range of scientific methods, in particular analysis, synthesis, description and comparison, and critical analysis. 1.1 Basic syllable models The position of the syllable in linguistics is not undisputed. Mostly, the missing transparent and clear definition of this unit seems to be the major argument for its banishment from the linguistic discussion. This position is well reflected in Kohler (1966: 207), where he critically emphasizes: The syllable is very often regarded as a substantive universal in phonology; but it can be demonstrated that the syllable is either an UNNECESSARY concept, because the division of the speech chain into such units is known for other reasons, or an IMPOSSIBLE one, as any division would be arbitrary, or even a HARMFUL one, because it clashes with grammatical formatives. If the syllable has any real status in phonology, its boundaries must be discernible. This assessment has to be seen in the light of the linguistic discussion of the 1960s, regarding the priority of phonetic or phonological approaches. Moreover, taking into consideration recently dominating phonological theories (optimality theory, lexical and prosodic phonology, natural phonology, and in general “preference”-based approaches), it appears that there is no lack of suggestions regarding a proper definition of the syllable, and in particular a linguistically grounded syllable division, e.g. the determination of syllable boundaries. The fact that the syllable is in the ongoing focus of linguistics goes hand in hand with the elaboration of different models of it, which will be briefly presented in the following.
